Evening Legal Assistant
We are seeking an experienced Evening Legal Assistant to provide after-hours support to attorneys across litigation and corporate practice groups. This role is ideal for a highly organized legal professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, exercises sound judgment independently, and delivers exceptional work product under tight deadlines.
Responsibilities
Litigation Support
- Draft, revise, proofread, and finalize pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, subpoenas, correspondence, and other legal documents.
- Maintain and organize electronic and physical case files, including document management and indexing.
- Assist with all phases of discovery, including document production, deposition preparation, and exhibit management.
- Support trial and hearing preparation by coordinating exhibits, binders, filings, and logistics.
Corporate Support
- Prepare, revise, and proofread corporate and transactional documents.
- Assemble signature packets and manage execution processes.
- Compile and organize fully executed agreements and closing documentation.
- Provide administrative and document support for ongoing corporate matters.
Administrative Support
- Provide responsive after-hours support to attorneys and clients.
- Format, proofread, and edit complex legal documents in accordance with firm standards.
- Prepare Tables of Contents and Tables of Authorities.
- Maintain strict confidentiality while handling sensitive and privileged information.
- Collaborate with day-shift and evening team members to ensure seamless workflow and matter coverage.
Qualifications
Experience
- 5+ years of legal assistant experience within a law firm environment.
- Significant litigation support experience, including trial preparation and court filings.
- Exposure to corporate or transactional practice areas preferred.
Technical Skills
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word document formatting, redlining, and document comparison.
- Experience with document management systems such as iManage or NetDocuments.
- Familiarity with litigation support and e-discovery platforms.
Professional Skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
- Ability to prioritize competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong judgment, professionalism, and problem-solving capabilities.
