Payroll Specialist

Payroll Specialists, especially those with union payroll, certified payroll, prevailing wage, or construction payroll experience, we need to talk! Our Portland-area client is adding a Payroll Specialist to their team on a temp-to-hire basis, and this is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys detailed payroll work, steady deadlines, and being part of a collaborative team.

As the Payroll Specialist, you would support a large and growing employee population while helping with weekly payroll and certified payroll reporting across multiple states. If you are the kind of person who likes accuracy, organization, compliance details, and figuring things out instead of waiting for someone else to solve it, this could be a really strong fit.

In this Payroll Specialist role, you would help with:

  • Weekly payroll support
  • Certified payroll reporting
  • Union payroll tracking and reporting
  • Multi-state payroll reporting
  • Maintaining payroll and job details in Excel
  • Reviewing payroll information for accuracy
  • Working in multiple payroll/reporting systems and portals
  • Researching discrepancies and following up on corrections
  • Supporting payroll compliance requirements
  • Providing backup support to the broader payroll team as needed

This is an in-office opportunity with a consistent Monday through Friday schedule and some flexibility around start time. The team is steady, collaborative, and looking for someone who is detail-oriented, self-sufficient, easygoing, and comfortable working in a construction-type environment.

To be considered, you should have:

  • 2+ years of certified payroll, union payroll, prevailing wage, or construction payroll experience preferred
  • 3+ years of strong payroll experience may be considered if you are sharp, accurate, and interested in learning certified payroll reporting
  • Proficient Excel skills for tracking, reviewing, and organizing payroll information
  • Comfort working in payroll systems and learning new reporting platforms
  • Strong communication and follow-through
  • Ability to work in a deadline-driven environment
  • A team-focused personality with the ability to problem-solve and ask thoughtful questions

Please apply! All of our posted positions are real, and we call people back. If this role is not the exact fit or fills before we connect with you, we are seeing new accounting and finance opportunities come in regularly and would still love to learn more about your background.
