Purchasing Agent

We’re seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Purchasing Agent to support purchasing and supply chain operations. In this role, you’ll work closely with vendors and internal teams to ensure materials, supplies, and equipment are ordered accurately and delivered on time. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with purchasing, procurement, inventory, or supply chain experience who enjoys problem-solving, organization, and building strong working relationships.
What You’ll Do
- Create, process, and track purchase orders
- Communicate with vendors regarding pricing, availability, lead times, and shipments
- Coordinate with internal departments to understand purchasing needs and timelines
- Monitor open orders and follow up on delayed shipments, shortages, or backorders
- Resolve discrepancies related to orders, pricing, invoices, and deliveries
- Maintain accurate purchasing records and documentation
- Assist with vendor evaluations and support supplier relationships
- Help ensure purchased materials meet quality standards and project requirements
- Support inventory and supply chain initiatives as needed
A Day in the Life
No two days look exactly the same, but a typical day may include:
- Reviewing incoming purchasing requests from internal departments
- Creating purchase orders and submitting them to vendors
- Following up on open orders and tracking shipments
- Answering questions from end users about order status and expected delivery dates
- Troubleshooting vendor issues, pricing discrepancies, or delayed deliveries
- Updating purchasing records and reporting information in Excel
- Collaborating with operations, inventory, and project teams to make sure materials arrive when needed
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys balancing administrative work with problem-solving and communication.
What We’re Looking For
Required Qualifications
- 1+ year of experience in purchasing, procurement, supply chain coordination, inventory management, or a related field
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Comfortable working with vendors and cross-functional teams
Technical Skills
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills, including sorting, filtering, and pivot tables
- Experience working within an ERP, purchasing, inventory, or order management system is helpful but not required
- Ability to learn proprietary software and systems quickly
