Associate Distribution Engineer (Entry-Level)

About the Role
Seeking an Associate Distribution Engineer to support the design and development of electric distribution systems. This is an excellent opportunity for engineering graduates or early-career professionals looking to gain hands-on experience in utility and power distribution projects.
In this role, you will work alongside experienced engineers to develop construction work packages, perform engineering calculations, conduct field inspections, and support projects related to electric distribution infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Develop design and construction packages for overhead and underground electric distribution systems.
Perform engineering calculations related to pole loading, guying, conductor sag and tension, voltage drop, and system reliability.
Utilize GIS, CAD, Work Management Systems (WMS), and other client software tools to create design packages.
Conduct field visits and site inspections, then return to the office to complete design work.
Prepare permitting and regulatory documentation for applicable jurisdictions.
Support construction activities and perform post-construction reviews.
Assist with outage investigations, root cause analysis, and mitigation efforts.
Maintain compliance with safety, quality, and engineering standards.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an ABET-accredited university (Engineering degree preferred).
Less than 2 years of relevant experience with an engineering degree, or less than 5 years of relevant experience with a non-engineering degree.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
Ability to work both in the field and in an office environment.
Willingness to travel overnight as needed (approximately 10-20%).
Ability to work outdoors in varying conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) standards.
Experience using ESRI, GIS applications, AutoCAD, and/or MicroStation.
Exposure to electric utility distribution systems, including overhead (OH), underground (UG), or underground residential distribution (URD).
Knowledge of electric utility design or construction practices.
