Position Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced Accounts Receivable Manager to oversee the daily operations of the accounts receivable function, including invoicing, cash application, collections, customer account management, and reporting. This role will lead a team of AR professionals while serving as a key partner to accounting and operational stakeholders. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership experience, a hands-on management style, and expertise handling complex billing environments, including client billbacks and reconciliation issues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day accounts receivable function, including invoicing, cash application, collections, and account maintenance
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of 3-5 AR professionals
  • Assign and prioritize workloads to ensure timely and accurate processing
  • Serve as the escalation point for billing disputes, collections issues, and customer account concerns
  • Oversee customer onboarding activities, including portal registrations and vendor documentation
  • Develop and implement collection strategies to reduce outstanding balances and improve cash flow
  • Review aging reports and monitor high-risk accounts
  • Approve write-offs, credit memos, and payment adjustments within established guidelines
  • Oversee the resolution of billing discrepancies, client billbacks, short payments, and unapplied cash
  • Prepare and analyze AR reporting, including aging schedules, collection trends, cash forecasts, and key performance metrics
  • Support month-end and year-end close activities, audits, and financial reporting requirements
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and operational efficiencies
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and accounting procedures

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field preferred
  • 8+ years of accounts receivable and/or accounting experience
  • 2+ years of leadership experience managing an AR team
  • Strong experience with collections, dispute resolution, and AR reporting
  • Proven experience managing complex billback processes and billing discrepancies
  • Experience working with ERP systems; NetSuite and QuickBooks are highly preferred
  • Advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, and data analysis
  • Strong leadership, communication, and team development skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment
