Our client, a mission-driven affordable housing organization located in Newport, NH is seeking an experienced Temp to Hire Property Manager to oversee the daily operations of a residential community. This role is responsible for maintaining high occupancy levels, ensuring regulatory compliance, supporting residents, and overseeing property operations to create a safe and welcoming living environment.
The ideal candidate has affordable housing experience, strong customer service skills, and a proven ability to manage leasing, compliance, maintenance coordination, and resident relations.
Location: Newport, NH
Schedule: Full-Time
Duration: Temporary-to-Hire
Start: ASAP
Pay Rate Range (based on experience): $25-$27/hour
Key Responsibilities
- Market available apartments and maintain strong occupancy levels
- Qualify applicants and manage the leasing process from application through move-in
- Coordinate move-ins, move-outs, and unit turnovers
- Collect rent and manage delinquency, payment plans, and eviction proceedings as necessary
- Ensure compliance with affordable housing regulations and program requirements
- Oversee routine property maintenance and coordinate with vendors and service providers
- Conduct property inspections and monitor building conditions
- Maintain accurate resident, leasing, and compliance records
- Communicate regularly with residents and resolve concerns in a professional and timely manner
- Maintain an organized and efficient property management office
- Respond to emergency situations and after-hours issues as needed
Qualifications
- Previous property management experience required
- HUD and LIHTC affordable housing experience required
- Knowledge of landlord-tenant laws and affordable housing regulations
- Experience with Yardi or similar property management software
- Excellent customer service and resident relations skills
- Strong organizational and administrative abilities
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Professional, ethical, and solutions-oriented approach
Preferred Background
- Experience managing affordable housing communities
- Familiarity with compliance certifications and recertifications
- Experience working within nonprofit housing or mission-driven organizations
- Background overseeing leasing, collections, compliance, and maintenance operations
