Our client, a nationally recognized pediatric healthcare organization, is seeking a Temporary Customer Service & Patient Collections Associate to join their team in Westwood, MA. This hybrid opportunity requires 4 days onsite and 1 day remote per week, offers $25.50/hour, and is expected to last at least one year with potential for conversion. This role focuses on patient billing support, payment collections, insurance verification, and customer service while helping patients navigate account and billing-related questions in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to a high volume of patient inquiries by phone, mail, and electronic messaging regarding billing, payments, and account questions.
- Research and resolve billing issues by working with patients, insurance carriers, and third-party payers.
- Collect outstanding balances and update patient demographic and insurance information.
- Verify insurance eligibility, coverage, and benefits using payer websites and other available tools.
- Review and resolve claim denials, coordination of benefits issues, secondary billing inquiries, and other insurance-related concerns.
- Maintain accurate documentation and account records while ensuring compliance with HIPAA and privacy regulations.
- Identify recurring billing trends and assist with process improvement initiatives.
Candidate Qualifications
- 3+ years of customer service, patient services, medical billing, collections, or healthcare administrative experience preferred.
- Experience handling billing inquiries, payment collection activities, or insurance-related customer service strongly preferred.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex billing information clearly and professionally.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage high-volume workloads while maintaining accuracy and professionalism.
- Experience with healthcare billing systems, insurance verification, or medical office operations preferred.
- Experience with Epic is a plus.
- High school diploma required.
