Nonprofit Controller
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily accounting operations, including AP, AR, payroll, and general ledger
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Manage grant accounting, fund tracking, and donor-restricted funds
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes
- Ensure compliance with nonprofit regulations and reporting requirements
- Coordinate annual audits and serve as primary contact for external auditors
- Maintain internal controls and improve accounting processes
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5+ years of accounting experience, including management responsibilities
- Nonprofit accounting experience required
- Strong knowledge of fund accounting, grants, and restricted funding
- Experience with audits, financial reporting, and budget management
- Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Excel skills
- CPA preferred
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
