Senior Accountant- Downingtown, PA

Job Overview

The Senior Accountant is responsible for supporting the accounting function through advanced general ledger work, account reconciliations, month-end close, and financial reporting. This role partners closely with internal stakeholders, drives process improvements, and may mentor junior accounting staff. Reports to the Accounting Manager or Controller.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead month-end and year-end close activities, including preparing and reviewing journal entries
  • Prepare and review complex account reconciliations, including bank, intercompany, and balance sheet accounts
  • Perform monthly variance analysis and support the annual budget and forecasting process
  • Assist with interim and annual audits, including preparation of audit schedules and support
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal control policies
  • Support the financial integration of acquisitions and system implementations
  • Identify and drive process improvements and efficiencies
  • Mentor and review the work of staff accountants
  • Assist with special projects and ad-hoc reporting as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 4+ years of relevant accounting experience (public accounting a plus)
  • CPA or CPA candidate preferred
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal controls
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs)
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Great Plains, Workday)
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
