Revenue Accountant – Arlington, VA
Beacon Hill is seeking a Revenue Accountant to join a growing accounting team. This position will be responsible for supporting the revenue accounting process, including revenue recognition, reconciliations, month-end close, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting foundation, excellent attention to detail, and experience working with revenue-related accounts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and support revenue recognition and related accounting activities
- Prepare revenue-related journal entries and account reconciliations
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close
- Reconcile revenue accounts and investigate discrepancies
- Review contracts, billing activity, and supporting documentation for accurate revenue recognition
- Maintain revenue schedules and supporting documentation
- Assist with financial reporting and variance analysis
- Support internal and external audit requests
- Partner with billing, finance, and other accounting teams to ensure accurate reporting
- Identify opportunities to improve revenue accounting processes and controls
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 5+ years of accounting experience, ideally with exposure to revenue accounting
- Strong understanding of GAAP and revenue recognition principles, including ASC 606
- Experience with month-end close, journal entries, and account reconciliations
- Strong Excel skills
- Experience with ERP/accounting systems
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams
Preferred Experience:
- Direct revenue recognition or revenue accounting experience
