Portfolio Analyst

We are working with a leading private investment firm in Boston that is looking to add a Portfolio Analyst to its Finance team. This role is ideal for someone with a strong analytical foundation who enjoys working across portfolio data, valuation, reporting, and process improvement in a fast‑paced, high‑expectations environment.
The Portfolio Analyst will work closely with senior team members and take ownership across portfolio monitoring, financial analysis, reporting, and ongoing efforts to improve how data and tools are used across the platform. This position is on‑site in Boston with no travel required.
The Role
In this role, you will support a broad range of analytical and reporting activities tied to portfolio oversight and fund operations, including:
- Collecting, maintaining, and analyzing portfolio‑level performance data
- Supporting recurring portfolio monitoring, reporting, and analysis for internal and external stakeholders
- Assisting with quarterly valuation processes, including financial analysis, data validation, and preparation of supporting materials
- Partnering with investment and finance teams to incorporate qualitative and quantitative inputs into reporting and analysis
- Preparing ad hoc analysis and materials used for internal reviews, investor communications, and fundraising efforts
- Identifying opportunities to improve data quality, automate workflows, and streamline reporting processes
- Helping develop and maintain tools, models, and reporting infrastructure using Excel and other financial systems
- Supporting regulatory and LP reporting requirements as needed
What We’re Looking For
- 2+ years of relevant experience in private equity, investment management, investment banking, public accounting, consulting, or a related financial services environment
- Strong foundation in financial analysis and private company valuation concepts
- Advanced Excel skills, including financial modeling, pivot tables, dashboards, and scenario analysis
- Experience working with financial systems, reporting tools, or portfolio data platforms (e.g., Anaplan, Investran, Chronograph, Power BI, or similar)
- Interest in improving processes through automation, data tooling, or emerging technologies
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work across technical and non‑technical stakeholders
- Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and comfortable managing multiple priorities under deadlines
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a quantitative discipline
