Senior Accountant – Bethesda, MD

Overview
Beacon Hill Financial is working with a client in Bethesda, MD to identify a Senior Accountant to add to their accounting team. This position plays a key role in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting timely financial reporting. The Senior Accountant will take ownership of general ledger functions, support the close process, and assist with accounts payable oversight while partnering with internal stakeholders across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage general ledger activities, including the preparation and review of journal entries and resolution of variances.
  • Complete and review monthly balance sheet reconciliations and follow up on outstanding or unusual items.
  • Support month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end close to ensure deadlines are met and reporting is accurate.
  • Assist with financial reporting, including financial statement preparation and analysis of fluctuations.
  • Oversee accounts payable-related processes, including expense reports, credit card reconciliations, and purchase order monitoring.
  • Ensure adherence to GAAP, internal controls, and established accounting policies and procedures.
  • Prepare support for audits and respond to auditor requests as needed.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives and assist with documentation of accounting procedures.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and contribute to special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline required.
  • CPA or active pursuit of certification preferred.
  • Prior corporate accounting experience with a solid understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to analyze and troubleshoot accounting issues.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline‑driven environment.
  • Clear and professional communication skills with the ability to work effectively across departments.
