Senior Accounting Manager – Temple Hills, MD
Position Summary
Beacon Hill Financial has partnered with a client in their search for a Senior Accounting Manager to join their team.The Senior Accounting Manager partners closely with the Controller to support core accounting operations and ensure accurate, timely financial reporting in accordance with GAAP. This role is actively involved in the close process, financial analysis, payroll oversight, and internal controls, while also contributing to process improvements across the accounting function. The ideal candidate is hands‑on, detail‑oriented, and comfortable working in a fast‑paced accounting environment while collaborating across finance and business teams.
Primary Responsibilities
- Partner with the Controller to manage general ledger activity, including the preparation, review, and approval of journal entries and accounting transactions
- Play a key role in monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial results
- Prepare, review, and maintain balance sheet reconciliations, researching and resolving discrepancies as needed
- Assist with the preparation and review of financial statements in compliance with GAAP
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis, providing financial insight and explanations to leadership
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls, ensuring adherence to accounting policies and procedures
- Coordinate with external auditors and tax providers, including preparation of audit schedules and PBC documentation
- Review accounting activity related to accounts payable, accruals, and payroll processed through ADP to ensure accuracy and proper classification
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, enhance controls, and increase efficiency through standardization or automation
- Assist with documenting and maintaining accounting policies, procedures, and workflows
- Support the Controller with ad hoc reporting, analysis, special projects, and cross‑functional initiatives
