Finance Project Manager – Washington, DC

A well-established organization is seeking a hands-on Finance Project Manager / Accounting Project Lead to support a high-visibility finance transformation initiative. This individual will play a key role in an ongoing ERP implementation, support audit activities, improve accounting processes, and help strengthen documentation and internal controls.

This opportunity is ideal for a finance or accounting professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, partnering with leadership, managing complex projects, and driving process improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support finance and accounting workstreams during an ERP implementation, including requirements gathering, user acceptance testing (UAT), issue resolution, and project coordination.
  • Partner with finance and accounting leadership to document current-state processes and develop improved future-state workflows.
  • Assist with external audit activities, including preparing schedules, responding to auditor requests, and ensuring documentation is complete and audit-ready.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and strengthen processes within a largely manual accounting environment.
  • Support accounting operations related to investment activity and financial reporting.
  • Review and reconcile financial activity, ensuring proper controls, accuracy, and supporting documentation.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across finance, accounting, operations, and technology teams to manage project timelines, risks, and deliverables.
  • Maintain organized project documentation, process maps, testing results, and status reports.
  • Provide regular updates to leadership regarding project progress, open issues, risks, and mitigation plans.
  • Assist with reporting, analytics, and planning tools used by the finance team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in accounting, finance, audit, financial systems implementation, or project management.
  • Prior experience supporting ERP implementations, upgrades, or finance transformation initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of accounting processes, controls, financial reporting, and audit requirements.
