Senior Financial Analyst
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Senior Financial Analyst to support budgeting, grant financial management, compliance, and strategic financial reporting across the organization. This role will serve as a key business partner to program leadership and finance management, providing financial insights, monitoring funding utilization, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and private funding requirements.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience with budgeting, forecasting, grant reporting, financial analysis, and compliance. This individual will be responsible for translating complex financial data into actionable recommendations, supporting organizational decision-making, and improving financial processes that drive operational effectiveness and long-term sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
Budgeting & Financial Planning
- Lead the development of the annual organizational budget, grant proposal budgets, reforecasts, and budget modifications.
- Partner with department leaders and program managers to develop, monitor, and manage program budgets.
- Perform budget-to-actual and variance analysis, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Provide recommendations and financial guidance to support strategic planning and resource allocation.
Financial Analysis & Reporting
- Prepare and analyze monthly financial reports, grant reports, and management reporting packages.
- Monitor and report on revenue streams, including grant and contract funding.
- Develop financial models and analytical tools to support organizational and program decision-making.
- Present financial insights and recommendations to leadership and key stakeholders.
Grant & Contract Financial Management
- Manage grant and contract expenditures to ensure compliance with award requirements, organizational policies, and applicable regulations.
- Reconcile grant financial reports and reimbursement requests to the general ledger and funding portals.
- Monitor funding utilization and spending patterns to maximize available funding and mitigate risk.
- Support grant proposal development by providing budget guidance, financial analysis, and budget narratives.
Compliance & Process Improvement
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and private funder requirements.
- Review cost allocation methodologies and support implementation of cost allocation plans.
- Assist with annual financial statement audits and Single Audit preparation.
- Analyze existing financial systems, processes, and controls and recommend improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.
Business Partnership & Strategic Support
- Collaborate with leadership, program directors, and cross-functional stakeholders to support financial sustainability and operational goals.
- Provide financial training and guidance to non-financial managers regarding budgeting, reporting, and compliance requirements.
- Evaluate financial trends and organizational performance to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Support special projects, system enhancements, and finance-driven initiatives as needed.
