Job: Staff Accountant
Location: East Shawnee, Oklahoma
Employment Type: Contract to hire, with a strong chance of permanent conversion
Pay Range: $25-35/hour, depending on experience and skillset
Position Overview:
We are working with a client seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support accounting operations with a primary focus on accounts receivable, collections, cash management, and customer account reconciliation within a manufacturing environment.
This is a full-time, on-site position with a standard Monday through Friday schedule from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Key Responsibilities:
- Generate, process, and distribute customer invoices and account statements.
- Maintain accurate accounts receivable balances and aging reports on a weekly and monthly basis.
- Perform proactive collections efforts through phone calls, emails, and customer follow-up communication.
- Research, document, and resolve customer billing disputes in coordination with internal departments, including Sales, Operations, Engineering, and Customer Service.
- Process customer payments, daily deposits, write-offs, and bad debt adjustments with proper documentation and approvals.
- Perform bank reconciliations and assist with cash management activities.
- Support month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations and variance explanations.
- Maintain customer sales tax exemption certificates and assist with sales tax reporting activities.
- Assist with audit requests related to accounts receivable, cash activity, and revenue recognition.
- Ensure compliance with internal accounting controls, company policies, and quality standards.
- Maintain organized financial records and provide administrative accounting support as needed.
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of accounting, staff accounting, accounts receivable, billing, or collections experience required.
- Previous manufacturing, industrial, or distribution accounting experience highly preferred.
- A high school diploma is required. An associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field is preferred but not required
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and Excel. Experience with ERP or MRP systems, or Visual Manufacturing, is a plus.
