Employment Type: Contract to Hire (with potential for extension or conversion)
Pay Range: $60-90/hour, depending on experience and skillset

Position Overview

We are working with a client seeking an experienced Controller to lead all accounting, financial reporting, compliance, and operational finance activities within a government contracting environment. This is a long-term opportunity that provides direct exposure to executive leadership and clear growth potential.

This position requires a strong background in DoD/government contract accounting, financial leadership, compliance management, and is also able to support executive leadership with strategic financial planning and operational decision-making.

This is a full-time, primarily on-site position operating on a 9/80 work schedule, allowing employees to work extended hours Monday through Thursday and take every other Friday off. Remote or hybrid flexibility may be considered for highly qualified candidates.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all accounting and financial reporting functions in compliance with CAS, FAR, DFARS, and other government contracting regulations.
  • Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting and close processes.
  • Implement and maintain Earned Value Management systems to monitor program financial performance and budget adherence.
  • Lead audit preparation and coordination with external auditors, DCAA, DCMA, and internal stakeholders.
  • Manage general ledger activities, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, fixed assets, and cash flow operations.
  • Collaborate with program managers and contract administrators to ensure accurate project costing and contract compliance.
  • Assist and utilize financial reporting, job costing, forecasting, and compliance tracking.
  • Support executive leadership with budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and risk analysis initiatives.
  • Mentor and develop accounting staff while establishing performance expectations and training initiatives.
  • Drive process improvements and strengthen internal accounting controls and operational efficiencies.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of accounting and finance experience in government contracting environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. CPA certification and/or a Master’s Degree are preferred but not required.
  • Highly proficient with Deltek Costpoint or similar ERP/accounting systems.
  • Strong working knowledge of FAR, DFARS, CAS, and government contract compliance requirements.
  • Ability to obtain or maintain an active DoD Secret Clearance.

Employment is contingent upon completing the company’s initial hiring process, meeting all health and safety compliance requirements, and the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.
