Job: Accounts Payable Specialist
Location: South Norman, OK
Employment Type: Contract to Hire (with potential for extension or conversion)
Pay Range: $25-30/hour, depending on experience and skill set
Position Overview
We are working with a growing client in the South Norman, OK area that is looking for a strong Accounts Payable Specialist.
This position is responsible for processing vendor invoices, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring timely payments while supporting the accounting team with daily administrative and month-end activities. The ideal candidate is organized, deadline-driven, and able to communicate effectively with vendors and internal departments in a fast-paced office environment.
This is a full-time, on-site position with a standard Monday through Friday schedule from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Key Responsibilities
- Process and enter vendor invoices into the accounting system accurately and efficiently
- Match invoices with purchase orders and receiving documentation
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies
- Maintain vendor records, accounts payable files, reports, and spreadsheets
- Communicate with vendors regarding invoices, payment status, and account inquiries
- Print checks, obtain necessary approvals/signatures, and distribute payments
- Assist with month-end closing activities related to accounts payable
- Support internal and external financial audits
- Identify opportunities to improve accounts payable processes and workflow efficiency
- Perform light administrative duties as needed
- Complete additional tasks and projects assigned by management
Requirements/Qualifications:
- 2+ years of accounts payable working experience
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel and Outlook. Experience with Dynamics 365 Business Central is preferred but not required.
- High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field preferred, but not required.
