Job Title: Business Process Consultant
Location: Madison, WI (Hybrid – onsite a minimum of 3 days per week)
Duration: Contract through end of year, with potential extension into early next year
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Business Process Consultant to support a large‑scale organizational and operational transition. This role focuses on the business and operational impact of a complex separation initiative and will partner closely with finance and cross‑functional stakeholders to ensure continuity, compliance, and efficiency throughout the transition.
The consultant will help analyze current-state operations, identify future-state process needs, and guide leaders through decision‑making related to shared services, operational ownership, and process redesign. This role is business‑focused
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze existing business processes and assess operational impacts of organizational changes
- Partner with finance and business leaders to perform impact analysis and develop cost and effort estimates
- Facilitate discussions with stakeholders to determine future‑state ownership of shared services and processes
- Identify processes requiring separation, retention, or retirement and support transition planning
- Develop transition roadmaps, timelines, and implementation plans for affected business functions
- Support design, testing, and rollout of updated or redesigned business processes
- Ensure operational considerations such as compliance, risk, and continuity are addressed
- Identify opportunities for process optimization and automation during and after transition
- Lead workshops and working sessions with cross‑functional teams to drive alignment and decision‑making
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Business Process Consultant or similar role supporting large‑scale operational change
- Strong background in process analysis, process redesign, and operational transformation
- Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma, PI, DMAIC, Process Optimization, or similar continuous improvement methodologies
- Experience working closely with finance and business stakeholders on impact assessments and planning
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and guide leaders through complex decisions
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex concepts into clear, actionable insights
- Demonstrated ability to build consensus across teams with competing priorities
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Experience with process optimization and automation initiatives
- Experience supporting organizational separations, carve‑outs, or major transformations
- Strong facilitation and stakeholder management skills
- Structured problem‑solving and documentation skills
