Paralegal
An established company is seeking a Paralegal to join its legal team in Columbus, Ohio. This is a full-time position supporting attorneys across contracts, litigation, claims, and corporate matters.
The salary range for this position is $55k-$75k, depending on experience.
The ideal candidate has 2-5 years of paralegal experience, ideally within an in-house legal department. Experience within banking, consumer reporting, or a related industry is a plus. Candidates must have an Associate degree in Paralegal Studies from an ABA-approved program or a Paralegal Certificate from an ABA-approved program.
Skills required and Job Duties include the following:
Job Duties:
- Administer contract processes from initiation through completion and communicate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely execution
- Monitor legal department mailboxes for incoming litigation, claims, compliance matters, contracts, and other legal inquiries
- Conduct pre-claim and litigation investigations, legal research, and initial case assessments
- Provide litigation support, including calendaring hearings and deadlines, organizing case files, and coordinating logistics
- Monitor tradenames, trademarks, and licenses for state agency filings and renewals
- Assist attorneys with monthly reports, risk assessment assignments, and professional correspondence
- Process invoices and requisitions and provide general administrative support to the legal department
- Maintain highly organized and accurate legal files and records while handling confidential information
Qualifications:
- Associate degree in Paralegal Studies from an ABA-approved program or Paralegal Certificate from an ABA-approved program
- 2-5 years of paralegal experience
- In-house legal experience preferred
- Banking or consumer reporting experience is a plus
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat Pro
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and maintain strict confidentiality
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work collaboratively within a legal team
