AP/AR Specialist

This position offers a clear path toward advancement into a Staff Accountant role. The organization is committed to developing internal talent and providing exposure to month-end close, reconciliations, financial reporting, grant accounting, and other accounting functions that support long-term career growth.

A nonprofit organization focused on improving outcomes for youth and families throughout the East Bay is seeking an AP/AR Specialist to join its accounting team. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who wants to build a strong foundation in nonprofit accounting while growing within a mission-driven organization.

Responsibilities

  • Process accounts payable invoices and payment runs
  • Manage accounts receivable billing, collections, and cash application
  • Reconcile bank accounts and balance sheet accounts
  • Prepare journal entries and assist with month-end close
  • Maintain accurate vendor, customer, and accounting records
  • Support grant, program, and fundraising-related accounting activity
  • Assist with audits and financial reporting processes
  • Research and resolve invoice, payment, and account discrepancies
  • Collaborate with accounting leadership on special projects and process improvements

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of accounts payable, accounts receivable, or general accounting experience
  • Experience with Sage Intacct strongly preferred
  • Nonprofit accounting experience preferred
  • Knowledge of AP, AR, general ledger, and account reconciliations
  • Strong Excel skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines and work independently
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
