Director, Security Architecture & Engagement
Ideal Candidate
A seasoned Security Architecture Director who is equally strong in technical architecture, people leadership, and business engagement. Must be comfortable advising executives, influencing technical decisions, and helping teams implement secure solutions without creating unnecessary delivery barriers.
This is not a purely governance or compliance-focused role. Strong technical credibility, stakeholder partnership, and enterprise security architecture experience are essential.
Position Overview
Seeking an experienced Director of Security Architecture & Engagement to lead enterprise cybersecurity architecture initiatives, manage security architects and engineers, and serve as a trusted security advisor to business and technology leadership.
The ideal candidate combines hands-on security architecture expertise, strong stakeholder engagement, and proven technical leadership within a large enterprise environment. This role focuses on enabling business initiatives through practical, risk-based security solutions rather than simply enforcing compliance.
Top 5 Must-Haves
- Enterprise Technology & Security Experience: 10+ years in technology, including 3+ years in DevOps and 2+ years in information security supporting large, complex enterprise environments.
- Security Architecture & Technical Expertise: Strong hands-on experience across enterprise security architecture, application security, infrastructure, networking, IAM, and data security. Expertise in at least one of the following: Application Security/SDLC, Data Security, Penetration Testing, Threat Detection, Security Operations, or Threat Hunting.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Advisory: Proven experience as a trusted cybersecurity advisor or security consultant, partnering with business executives, engineering teams, and technology leaders to deliver practical, risk-based security solutions.
- Security Frameworks & Risk Management: Strong knowledge of ISMS, enterprise risk assessments, threat modeling, and security control frameworks, including NIST 800-53, CIS Benchmarks, and ISO 27001.
- Technical Leadership & Team Management: 5+ years leading multidisciplinary security architecture or engineering teams, including geographically distributed resources. Strong executive communication and relationship-management skills.
Additional Required Skills
- Hands-on familiarity with AWS, Azure, or GCP, infrastructure-as-code (Terraform), and Kubernetes.
- Experience integrating security architecture into DevSecOps, CI/CD, and enterprise technology initiatives.
- Ability to develop security architecture standards, reference architectures, and reusable design patterns.
- Strong understanding of Zero Trust, IAM, cloud security, and emerging cybersecurity technologies.
- Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a primary cybersecurity advisor to business, product, engineering, and technology leadership.
- Lead and mentor security architects and engineers across enterprise security initiatives.
