Operations Manager – Defense Operations & Sustainment
Location: San Diego (onsite)
Duration: 6-month contract-to-hire
Schedule: 9/80 schedule
Clearance: Active Interim Secret or higher required
Overview
This position will provide operational leadership across a large sustainment and maintenance organization supporting mission-critical communications and electronics systems. The Operations Manager will oversee day-to-day execution while coordinating engineering, logistics, quality, configuration management, financial performance, and customer-facing activities.
Responsibilities
  • Lead daily operations across maintenance, repair, testing, and sustainment activities
  • Manage cross-functional teams including engineering, logistics, quality, and program stakeholders
  • Serve as primary interface with government and customer representatives
  • Drive operational efficiency, process improvements, and readiness objectives
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, labor utilization, and financial performance
  • Oversee quality, configuration management, documentation, and compliance processes
  • Identify and mitigate operational, schedule, technical, and financial risks
  • Support continuous improvement and future capability growth initiatives
Requirements
  • 10+ years supporting defense, communications, electronics, maintenance, sustainment, manufacturing, or related operations
  • 3+ years leading teams, projects, or operational organizations
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, cost management, or program financial performance
  • Experience with quality management, configuration management, risk management, or process improvement
  • Ability to work directly with government customers and senior stakeholders
  • Active Interim Secret clearance or higher
Preferred
  • Navy, DoD, communications systems, RF systems, networking equipment, or C5ISR experience
  • Lean Six Sigma, PMP, DAWIA, ASQ, or similar certifications
  • Experience leading operational improvement initiatives
