A local public-sector organization focused on large-scale infrastructure and construction projects is seeking a Controller to support its accounting and finance operations. This is a hands-on role with a strong mix of technical accounting, audit support, and systems implementation work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee governmental accounting activities, ensuring compliance with applicable standards and regulations
  • Perform financial analysis to support budgeting, reporting, and operational decision-making
  • Support ERP system implementation, including configuration, testing, and data validation (Workday experience preferred)
  • Lead audit preparation efforts, including review of audit workpapers and addressing audit findings
  • Review and reconcile fixed assets and construction-in-progress (CIP) schedules
  • Evaluate existing accounting policies and procedures and recommend improvements for efficiency and compliance
  • Assist with financial reconciliations and ensure accuracy of system-generated reports
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to support system transitions and process improvements

Qualifications:

  • Strong background in governmental or public sector accounting
  • Experience with ERP implementations or system upgrades (Workday a plus)
  • Knowledge of fixed assets and construction accounting (CIP)
  • Experience supporting audits and working with external auditors
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and process improvement skills
  • Ability to work onsite and collaborate with internal stakeholders
