A well-funded, high-growth AI startup is seeking an Accounting Manager to help build and scale its accounting function during a period of rapid growth. Reporting to senior finance leadership, this role will play a key part in strengthening the month-end close process, improving accounting operations, enhancing internal controls, and building a scalable finance infrastructure.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys wearing multiple hats, solving problems, and creating processes from the ground up. The ideal candidate is both hands-on and strategic, capable of executing day-to-day accounting responsibilities while driving automation and operational improvements that support long-term growth.
Responsibilities
- Own key aspects of the monthly and quarterly close process, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and financial reporting support
- Manage core accounting operations, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, billing, invoicing, and collections
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and maintain well-documented supporting schedules
- Partner with Finance leadership to improve close efficiency, strengthen internal controls, and support audit readiness
- Identify opportunities for automation and leverage technology and AI tools to streamline accounting workflows
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Sales, Customer Success, and other teams on billing, reporting, and process-related matters
- Assist with ERP implementations, systems enhancements, and finance transformation initiatives
- Support special projects and strategic growth initiatives as needed
Qualifications
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Experience in a startup, high-growth technology, SaaS, fintech, or AI environment
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, revenue recognition, and month-end close processes
- Experience supporting AR, AP, billing, collections, and general accounting functions
- Background working with ERP systems and modern finance technology tools
- Advanced Excel and analytical skills
- Comfortable leveraging AI and automation tools to improve efficiency and scalability
- Strong communication and business partnering skills
- Self-starter with a hands-on, entrepreneurial mindset and a passion for building processes
