Overview

We’re looking for a Senior Property Accountant to support a portfolio of commercial assets. This role owns the financials end-to-end and partners closely with property management. You’ll handle reporting, analysis, and compliance while keeping things accurate and on schedule.


Duties:

  • Lead month-end and quarter-end close for assigned properties
  • Prepare financial statements under GAAP, including supporting schedules
  • Review rent rolls, lease data, and billing to ensure accuracy
  • Investigate and resolve billing or revenue discrepancies
  • Analyze operating results and provide variance explanations
  • Support budgeting and quarterly reforecasts with property teams
  • Calculate CAM reconciliations, tax escalations, and annual true-ups
  • Maintain and audit key property-level data across internal systems
  • Prepare lender and ownership reporting packages
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts and research variances
  • Track and record fixed assets and depreciation
  • Review lease terms and ensure proper financial treatment
  • Support internal and external audits with required documentation
  • Partner cross-functionally with AP, AR, lease admin, and legal

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 3-6+ years of accounting experience, ideally in real estate or property accounting
  • Strong Excel skills (lookups, pivots, data analysis)
  • Experience with financial reporting and reconciliations
  • Ability to manage multiple properties and deadlines at once
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability
  • Comfortable working with lease data and complex agreements
  • Clear communication skills with both finance and non-finance teams
  • Yardi, AppFolio, MRI or other comparable ERP preferred

Nice to Have

  • Commercial real estate exposure
  • Experience with CAM reconciliations and lease abstractions
  • Familiarity with property management or accounting platforms
