Senior Property Accountant

Location: San Francisco, CA

This role offers visibility across a commercial real estate portfolio and the opportunity to take on expanded accounting responsibilities over time. Ideal for a property accountant looking to deepen their expertise in real estate accounting, financial reporting, and portfolio management.

A well-established commercial real estate organization is seeking a Senior Property Accountant to support a portfolio of office, retail, industrial, and mixed-use properties. This individual will play a key role in month-end close, financial reporting, reconciliations, and property-level accounting operations.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Complete month-end close for assigned properties
  • Review and reconcile general ledger accounts
  • Prepare bank and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Record journal entries and accruals
  • Analyze operating expenses, CAM reconciliations, and property performance
  • Collaborate with property managers on budgets and financial reporting
  • Assist with annual audits and year-end processes
  • Ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and controls

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of property accounting experience
  • Commercial real estate accounting experience required
  • Experience with Yardi or AppFolio required
  • Strong understanding of general ledger, financial reporting, and month-end close
  • Experience preparing property-level financial statements
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
  • CPA or CPA-track is a plus
