Position Summary
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll while ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations. This role requires strong attention to detail, discretion when handling confidential information, and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Process biweekly and semi-monthly multi-state payroll for employees.
- Ensure accurate calculation of wages, overtime, bonuses, commissions, and deductions.
- Maintain and update employee payroll records and related documentation.
- Review and verify timesheets, resolving payroll discrepancies as needed.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll laws and tax regulations.
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay, taxes, benefits deductions, and payroll-related matters.
- Partner with Human Resources and Accounting to ensure payroll accuracy and data integrity.
- Manage direct deposit setup, payroll adjustments, and paper check processing.
- Assist with payroll audits, reconciliations, and year-end reporting.
- Support continuous improvement of payroll processes and procedures.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of payroll processing experience.
- Experience processing multi-state payroll.
- Working knowledge of payroll software, preferably iSolved.
- Strong understanding of payroll regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirements.
- Exceptional attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet strict deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
- Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Adaptable, professional, and able to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Education & Experience
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of payroll experience, including multi-state payroll processing.
