Payroll Specialist
Are you a Payroll Specialist with union payroll experience who is ready to bring your skills to a company that will value them right away? We are working on a temp to hire opportunity with a client in the Portland area seeking someone who can work fully on-site. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys staying organized, thrives in a deadline-driven environment, and wants to step into a stable role with long-term potential.

As a Payroll Specialist in this position, you would be responsible for:
* Process weekly union payroll
* Review hours for accuracy and completeness
* Make payroll updates and adjustments
* Support payroll reporting and reconciliations
* Answer payroll questions from employees and staff
* Help ensure payroll compliance and accuracy
* Assist with deductions, tax activity, and direct deposit processing
* Complete payroll reports and maintain supporting records
* Support onboarding paperwork and employee file updates
* Coordinate background checks and related documentation
* Assist with accounts payable and other support projects

This person will report directly to the Controller and be part of a professional, friendly environment with established processes and a supportive team. It is a strong opportunity for someone who values structure, consistency, and the chance to contribute in a meaningful way while building long-term potential with the organization.

If you have:
* 2+ years of payroll experience, including union payroll
* Experience with construction payroll
* Payroll tax withholding experience
* 401(k) administration knowledge
* Basic to intermediate Excel skills
* The ability to learn systems quickly and work within established processes
