Payroll Specialist (Part-Time Contract | Immediate Need)- Pay up to $40/HR (DOE)
Urgent opening – looking for a candidate who can start immediately to allow for training. Flexible hybrid schedule available.
- Process bi-weekly payroll for approximately 225 employees across multiple states
- Review, audit, and reconcile payroll data to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Process commissions, bonuses, retro pay, reimbursements, and payroll adjustments
- Manage payroll taxes, garnishments, child support orders, and other deductions
- Assist with payroll reporting, audits, and data integrity reviews
- Research and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee payroll inquiries
- Partner with HR, Accounting, and Operations on payroll-related matters
- Utilize payroll systems such as Paycor (preferred), ADP Workforce Now, Paychex, Paycom, or similar platforms
- Create and maintain reports using Excel and Google Sheets
- Support compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations
- Experience with prevailing wage payroll strongly preferred
- Multi-state payroll experience required (MN, WI, IL, MA, NH, CO)
Schedule & Details
- Part-time contract, approximately 2 months
- 3-4 days per week (Monday-Wednesday required)
- Onsite training in St. Paul, then potential for flexible hybrid or fully remote work
Ideal Candidate
- Payroll professional with 3+ years of payroll experience
- Strong knowledge of payroll taxes and garnishments
- Quick learner who can work independently with minimal training
- Detail-oriented, confident, and comfortable in a high-visibility role
- Available to start ASAP and hit the ground running
