We are seeking an experienced Controller to join a manufacturing organization on a direct hire basis. This is a hands-on, on-site role based at the corporate headquarters, with leadership responsibility across multiple manufacturing and distribution locations.

The Controller will serve as the senior accounting leader, overseeing financial reporting, general ledger integrity, month-end close, and team management. The ideal candidate brings 5-10+ years of progressive accounting experience, strong manufacturing knowledge, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, transaction-heavy environment with evolving processes.


Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Financial Operations

  • Own and oversee the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness
  • Prepare and review monthly financial statements
  • Lead and oversee the month-end and year-end close
  • Ensure proper revenue recognition and inventory-related accounting practices
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls and accounting processes
  • Support the integration of new systems, processes, or acquisitions as needed
  • Partner closely with executive leadership on financial reporting and analysis

Team Leadership

  • Provide direct supervision to the Accounting Manager and Staff Accountants across multiple locations
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a distributed accounting team
  • Drive accountability, consistency, and best practices across sites
  • Manage priorities across multiple locations and deadlines

Manufacturing & Multi-Site Accounting

  • Oversee accounting for a manufacturing environment with complex transactions
  • Support transaction-heavy operations, including inventory movement and multi-channel sales
  • Ensure consistent accounting practices across all facilities
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with operations and leadership

Systems & Process Improvement

  • Serve as the primary accounting owner of NetSuite (heavy daily use required)
  • Identify process gaps and implement scalable solutions
  • Improve documentation and workflows in an evolving environment

HR & Compliance (Working Knowledge)

  • Provide oversight and support of accounting-related HR processes
  • Partner on payroll, benefits, and compliance matters
  • Maintain awareness of multi-location compliance requirements

Qualifications

  • 5-10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including people management
  • Prior experience as a Controller or Senior Accounting Manager
  • Manufacturing industry experience strongly preferred
  • Strong experience with NetSuite required
  • Proven background in GL accounting, financial statements, and month-end close
  • Solid understanding of revenue recognition and inventory accounting
  • Working knowledge of HR processes, benefits, and compliance
  • Experience in small to mid-sized organizations with evolving infrastructure
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and develop teams
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and comfort operating amid ambiguity
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, locations, and stakeholders simultaneously
