Instrument Test and Process Technician
Job Overview
Provides and leads technical support in conjunction with process engineering to assigned manufacturing lines in support of instrument and sub-assembly manufacturing including assembly, testing, and troubleshooting.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Assembles, tests, and troubleshoots assigned instrument production line.
- Serve as the manufacturing process owner for assigned manufacturing line(s) including responsibility for Safety, Delivery, Quality and Cost.
- Develop expertise in assembly, testing and troubleshooting for assigned platform(s).
- Works with Manufacturing Operators to meet weekly production goals for assigned platform(s).
- Troubleshoot electronic circuits, PCBs, mechanical systems, and integrated electromechanical systems including software.
- Supports the process engineering activities for the assigned production line(s) such as Deviation Waivers, Quality Notifications including Repair/Re-work forms.
- Train production associates on assembly and test procedures.
- Work with Engineers to solve design and manufacturing challenges.
- Recommend continuous improvement opportunities. Perform feasibility tests.
- Revise, verify & validate, and update procedures for assigned manufacturing line(s).
- Engineering Support – Resolve minor manufacturing assembly and test issues to support instrument and sub-assembly production; also perform testing, validations, and designs of experiments under the guidance of the department staff.
- Follows design and quality guidelines based on Good Manufacturing Practices guidelines and related Quality Standards and Practices.
- Must follow all housekeeping policies and procedures
- Must follow all safety policies and procedures
- Must be able to work overtime as required to meet business requirements
- Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications
Minimum Education/Experience:
- Two year Associates degree in mechanical or electronics or relevant degree. Robotics experience preferred.
Basic Skills:
- Must demonstrate capability to test for highly complex electromechanical instruments.
- Must demonstrate capability to communicate clearly through both verbal and written communication to support process engineering team.
- Proven ability and accountability to results and to improve performance and processes across a team, work cell, or project.
- Must demonstrate the ability to manage time across multiple production orders and processes within allotted time standards.
- Must demonstrate the ability to lead quality, CI, and System reviews including root cause analysis and providing solutions to a wide range of production and system issues
- Proficiency in system Performance analysis and comprehension.
- Proven leadership skills capability and ability to mentor, coach, and develop other associates
- Must demonstrate a strong ability and commitment to Continuous Improvement.
- Fundamental knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and software tools (i.e. oscilloscope, OEM software, torque drivers, gauges, bits, etc.)
- Expert in reading drawings, interpreting and measuring dimensions, requirements, etc.
- Must demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a team setting to reach common goals.
- Experience and Performance as the SME for complex instruments and ability to work with minimal support from Engineers / Technicians
- Ability to train associates on testing complex systems, conducting repair activities, and conduct complex trouble shooting
- Must be able to effectively manage frequent assignment changes
Proficient/Working Skills:
- Must be proficient in English with the ability to read, write, analyze/evaluate charts, follow simple diagrams and perform basic arithmetic
- Strong proficiency with PCs (Personal Computers) and basic use of a Windows environment is required
- Strong math and analytical skills.
- Use independent judgment to plan, perform, make decisions, troubleshoot and problem solve in areas on set up, operations, and processes
