Position Overview
We are seeking a Formulation Chemist II to support product development and innovation efforts within a dynamic R&D environment. This individual will contribute to the design, improvement, and evaluation of formulated products, working across a variety of physical delivery systems (e.g., liquids, aerosols, or solid formats).
This role partners closely with cross-functional teams to develop new products, enhance existing formulations, and address manufacturing or performance-related challenges.
Key Responsibilities
Formulation & Development
- Develop and refine product formulations to meet performance, quality, and regulatory requirements
- Support new product initiatives through experimentation, iteration, and technical input
- Evaluate and enhance existing products to improve performance, cost, or manufacturability
- Collaborate with internal teams to move products from concept through commercialization
Laboratory Work & Testing
- Execute laboratory experiments in compliance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP)
- Conduct studies to assess product stability, performance, and overall quality
- Monitor stability over time to ensure consistency and shelf-life expectations are met
- Investigate and resolve formulation or process-related issues
Data & Technical Reporting
- Analyze experimental results and translate findings into actionable insights
- Prepare clear, concise technical reports and summaries for internal stakeholders
- Communicate results effectively to support decision-making and product positioning
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate and detailed lab notebooks for all experimental work
- Enter and manage data within internal systems and databases
- Ensure documentation aligns with internal quality standards and regulatory expectations
Required Skills & Qualifications
Technical Skills
- Solid understanding of formulation science, including ingredient functionality and interactions
- Familiarity with laboratory operations, instrumentation, and safety practices
- Experience working in regulated environments and following standardized procedures (GLP preferred)
Professional Skills
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities
- Ability to manage multiple projects and shifting priorities
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
- Proficiency with common software tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Ability to work both independently and within a collaborative team setting
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline
- 3-5 years of experience in product development, formulation, or applied laboratory work
- Experience working with formulated products in any industry (e.g., consumer goods, specialty chemicals, coatings, personal care, food, etc.) is preferred
