Workforce Development & Employment Specialist

Position Overview

We are seeking a Workforce Development & Employment Specialist to support individuals in achieving employment, career development, and self-sufficiency goals through a combination of case management, workforce development, employer engagement, and community outreach. This position serves as a liaison between job seekers, employers, workforce partners, and community organizations to create meaningful employment opportunities and deliver supportive services that lead to long-term success.

The ideal candidate is comfortable building relationships with participants and employers alike, providing individualized coaching and support while developing partnerships that connect individuals to career pathways, training opportunities, and sustainable employment.

Key Responsibilities

Participant Engagement & Case Management

  • Conduct outreach, recruitment, intake assessments, and eligibility screenings for program participants.
  • Develop individualized employment and action plans based on participant goals, skills, and barriers to employment.
  • Provide ongoing case management, coaching, and career guidance to support participant success and retention.
  • Monitor participant progress and adjust service plans as needed to achieve employment and self-sufficiency goals.
  • Connect participants with supportive resources including workforce training, education, transportation, childcare, housing assistance, financial literacy services, and other community-based programs.

Employment Development & Employer Relations

  • Build and maintain relationships with local employers, workforce agencies, training providers, and community partners.
  • Identify job openings, internships, apprenticeships, work-based learning opportunities, and other career pathways for participants.
  • Match qualified candidates with employment opportunities and facilitate referrals to employers.
  • Collaborate with hiring managers and business leaders to understand workforce needs and identify talent solutions.
  • Maintain follow-up communication with employers and participants to support successful placements and retention outcomes.

Community Outreach & Program Support

  • Represent the program at community meetings, career fairs, workforce events, and networking opportunities.
  • Support workshops focused on job readiness, interviewing, resume development, professionalism, and career advancement.
  • Assist with community engagement initiatives and participant recruitment efforts.
  • Develop and maintain strong partnerships with community organizations and service providers that support participant success.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate participant files, case notes, employment records, and program documentation.
  • Track participant outcomes, employment placements, and performance metrics.
  • Prepare reports and maintain compliance with program requirements and funding guidelines.
  • Utilize case management databases and Microsoft Office applications to document services and program activity.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Social Work, Sociology, Workforce Development, Business, Public Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Two or more years of experience in workforce development, employment services, recruiting, staffing, case management, career counseling, community outreach, social services, or a related field.
  • Experience working directly with employers, job seekers, or community-based programs highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders and engage individuals from varied backgrounds.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain detailed documentation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and case management or applicant tracking systems.
