Position Overview
**Fully Onsite in Durham**
Our client is seeking a dynamic, energetic, and relationship-driven Senior HR Generalist to serve as the primary HR partner supporting a professional sports organization. This role combines full-cycle talent acquisition, employee relations, and employee engagement, with a strong emphasis on recruiting and workforce planning.
As the dedicated HR resource for the team, this individual will oversee HR support for both full-time and seasonal staff while partnering closely with leadership to foster a positive employee experience and high-performing workplace culture. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys building relationships, and has a genuine interest in sports, athletics, or live event environments.
This position primarily follows a standard business schedule but requires flexibility to attend select evening and weekend events throughout the season.
Key Responsibilities
Recruitment & Talent Acquisition
- Lead full-cycle recruitment efforts for a high volume of full-time, seasonal, and internship openings.
- Partner with leadership and hiring managers to develop proactive staffing strategies and hiring timelines.
- Source candidates through job boards, social media, networking events, employee referrals, and community outreach initiatives.
- Conduct candidate screenings, coordinate interviews, and manage the hiring process from requisition to onboarding.
- Organize and support large-scale hiring events and seasonal recruiting initiatives.
- Develop and maintain talent pipelines for ongoing and future staffing needs.
- Track recruiting metrics and provide regular updates on hiring activity, candidate flow, and time-to-fill performance.
- Ensure a positive and engaging candidate experience throughout the recruitment process.
- Coordinate onboarding activities and collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure a smooth new hire experience.
Employee Relations & HR Support
- Serve as the primary HR resource for employees and leadership.
- Provide guidance on HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Support employee relations matters, including coaching, conflict resolution, investigations, and performance management.
- Partner with leaders to address employee concerns and foster a positive workplace culture.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment regulations.
- Assist with training initiatives, policy implementation, and HR process improvements.
- Support workforce retention efforts, particularly for seasonal employees and interns.
Employee Engagement & Culture
- Collaborate with leadership to develop and implement employee engagement initiatives.
- Support programs that enhance employee satisfaction, retention, and workplace culture.
- Plan and coordinate recognition programs, team-building activities, and employee events.
- Analyze employee feedback and recommend strategies to improve engagement across the organization.
- Help create an environment that promotes collaboration, inclusion, and professional development.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 3+ years of high-volume recruiting experience.
- 5+ years of Human Resources experience, including employee relations responsibilities.
- Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practices.
- Proven ability to attract and recruit top talent in competitive markets.
- Experience supporting both full-time and seasonal workforces preferred.
- Excellent communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Experience utilizing applicant tracking systems (ATS) and HRIS platforms.
- PHR, SHRM-CP, or similar HR certification is a plus.
- Experience with ADP Workforce Now is preferred.
- Passion for sports, athletics, or live-event environments strongly preferred.
