Systems Engineer I

Location: Madison, WI (Hybrid – minimum 2 days onsite per week)
Duration: Through 6/30/2027 with multiple year-long extensions
Interview Process: Teams Video Interview (Camera On)

Position Overview

We are seeking a Systems Engineer I to support and maintain enterprise infrastructure environments. This position will be responsible for the administration, maintenance, and enhancement of Windows-based server systems and supporting technologies. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing enterprise Windows infrastructure and will work independently on complex technical initiatives involving server administration, upgrades, maintenance, troubleshooting, and implementation of new technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain Windows Server environments
  • Support Active Directory, Microsoft SQL Server, VMware, and WSUS platforms
  • Perform server upgrades, patching, maintenance, and troubleshooting
  • Monitor infrastructure performance and ensure system reliability
  • Assist with planning, design, implementation, and deployment of new technologies
  • Support software and hardware upgrades across server environments
  • Document system configurations, processes, and procedures
  • Collaborate with technical teams to resolve infrastructure issues
  • Prioritize and manage multiple projects and operational tasks simultaneously

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience administering enterprise environments utilizing:
    • Microsoft Windows Server
    • Active Directory
    • Microsoft SQL Server
    • VMware
    • Windows Server Update Services (WSUS)
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently in a complex infrastructure environment
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • PowerShell scripting experience
  • ITIL certification
  • Experience supporting Microsoft 365 and SharePoint
  • Administration of Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS)
  • Administration and support of Microsoft .NET web applications

Additional Requirements

  • Must currently reside in Wisconsin
  • Must be local to the Madison area
  • No relocation permitted
  • Must be available to work onsite at least two days per week
