A growing in-house team is looking for a Senior Counsel. This is a broad legal generalist role with a strong focus on transactional contract work, commercial law, risk management, compliance, litigation oversight, and dispute resolution.
The successful candidate will oversee the entire contract process on behalf of the company. This attorney will be responsible for drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of customer, vendor, vehicle lease, maintenance, and business-related agreements.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review, negotiate, and finalize critical agreements with customers, vendors, suppliers, and other business partners.
- Advise internal stakeholders on a broad range of legal, commercial, contractual, compliance, and business matters.
- Partner collaboratively with business, operational, product, and leadership teams to support strategic goals.
- Identify legal and business risks, assess practical solutions, and provide clear, business-minded guidance.
- Support education and training initiatives for internal teams on contractual, compliance, and risk-related topics.
- Manage litigation matters, disputes, and resolution strategies in coordination with internal stakeholders and outside counsel.
- Assist with legal matters involving real estate, bankruptcy, intellectual property, finance, and other related areas as needed.
- Directly manage legal support professionals, including paralegals and contract managers.
- Help define, develop, and implement corporate policies, procedures, programs, and internal legal processes.
- Support senior leadership in evaluating business risks and transaction-specific issues.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 9 years of relevant legal experience, ideally including both in-house and law firm experience.
- Licensed to practice law in Illinois.
- Strong transactional, commercial contracting, and contract negotiation experience.
- Demonstrated ability to work directly with senior executives and professionals across multiple business functions.
