Quality Assurance Analyst I
Location: Wisconsin | Hybrid, 1 day onsite per week in Madison
Contract: Long Term, Multi-Year
Start Date: Mid-November

Position Overview
We are seeking a Quality Assurance Analyst I to support a web application development team in a hands-on testing capacity. This position will work closely with developers and Business Analysts to evaluate user stories, verify acceptance criteria, test application functionality, and ensure a consistent user interface.
The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of quality assurance testing experience, including experience working within an Agile Scrum development environment. This role requires someone who is comfortable performing detailed application testing, documenting issues and testing feedback, validating backend data using SQL, and participating throughout the software development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
* Partner with developers and Business Analysts to evaluate, verify, and test user story acceptance criteria.
* Perform hands-on QA testing of web applications to confirm functionality meets defined requirements.
* Validate that applications maintain a consistent user interface and function as specified.
* Identify application defects, inconsistencies, and functionality issues and clearly document findings for the development team.
* Participate in Agile Scrum ceremonies, including story refinement and scoring.
* Provide clear and concise written and verbal feedback based on testing results.
* Use Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) to view table data, write SQL queries, verify data integrity, and validate system calculations and data manipulation.
* Work within Azure DevOps or a similar development/work-management platform.
* Apply established QA methodologies and testing techniques throughout the software development lifecycle.
* Create and maintain technical testing documentation.
* Work independently while collaborating closely with project leads and the broader development team.
* Learn existing application functionality and use that knowledge to support thorough application testing.

Required Qualifications
* 3+ years of quality assurance/software testing experience.
* 3+ years of experience testing user stories and acceptance criteria in collaboration with developers and Business Analysts.
* 3+ years of experience with Agile Scrum, including its roles, ceremonies, artifacts, and development cadence.
* 3+ years of experience with Azure DevOps or a similar platform.
* 3+ years of experience using Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio, including viewing table data and writing SQL queries for data validation.
* Experience with QA methodologies, testing processes, and testing techniques.
* Understanding of the full software development lifecycle.
* Experience documenting defects, testing results, and required application corrections.
* Technical writing and documentation experience.
* Ability to communicate testing results clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
* Strong attention to detail and ability to work collaboratively within a web application development team.

What We’re Looking For
This role is particularly well suited for someone who enjoys hands-on functional application testing rather than purely automated QA work. You should be comfortable digging into individual user stories, understanding what the application is supposed to do, testing against the defined acceptance criteria, and using SQL to validate what is happening with the underlying data.
You will work closely with both technical and business team members, so the ability to explain defects clearly, document findings thoroughly, and provide concise feedback to developers and Business Analysts will be important.

Work Arrangement
This is a hybrid position requiring one day onsite per week. Candidates must currently reside in Wisconsin or be willing to relocate to Wisconsin prior to starting the position at their own expense.
