Plywood Plant Manager

Location: Elgin, OR (Relocation Required)
Compensation: $120,000-$190,000 DOE + Short-Term Incentive, Long-Term Incentive, and Relocation Assistance
Job Type: Direct Hire, Full Time
Reports To: Region Production Manager

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Plant Manager to lead operations for a plywood manufacturing facility in Elgin, Oregon. This role is responsible for overall plant performance, including safety, production, quality, maintenance, employee development, budgeting, inventory management, environmental compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on manufacturing leader with strong business acumen, proven leadership experience, and a safety-first mindset. This individual will be responsible for driving operational excellence while developing teams and fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and employee engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all aspects of plant operations, including production, maintenance, quality, safety, environmental compliance, and workforce development.
  • Ensure the facility meets production goals, cost objectives, quality standards, and customer delivery commitments.
  • Manage plant budgets, capital projects, operating plans, and resource allocation.
  • Drive a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators related to production, maintenance, quality, and financial performance.
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts to increase efficiency, productivity, and operational effectiveness.
  • Build, coach, and develop both salaried and hourly employees while fostering strong employee relations.
  • Collaborate with leadership on strategic planning, capital investments, staffing, and operational initiatives.
  • Maintain positive relationships with employees, community stakeholders, and business partners.
  • Support and lead union workforce management, including labor relations and contract administration.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 8+ years of progressive manufacturing leadership experience.
  • Experience leading large manufacturing operations with responsibility for production, safety, maintenance, quality, and financial performance.
  • Strong understanding of budgeting, capital planning, P&L management, and operational metrics.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, drive change, and improve plant performance.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Background

  • Wood products experience preferred, including plywood, veneer, lumber, MDF, or OSB manufacturing.
  • Other heavy industrial manufacturing experience will be considered, including pulp and paper, cement, mining, or similar environments.
  • Experience managing unionized workforces.
  • Experience in 24/7 manufacturing operations.
  • Understanding of capital projects, maintenance planning, environmental compliance, and continuous improvement programs.
