Required Skills:
4+ years of experience in software development with a focus on backend and microservices development
Strong hands-on experience with Java and the Spring ecosystem, including Spring Boot and Spring Framework
Experience designing, developing, and maintaining RESTful APIs and service-based applications
Proven experience building and architecting microservices solutions, including service decomposition, scalability, and distributed systems design
Experience working with GraphQL APIs, including schema design, query optimization, and integration with backend services
Strong experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB, or similar technologies Demonstrated daily use of AI-assisted development tools (Claude, GitHub Copilot, or similar) to improve productivity and code quality
Solid understanding of object-oriented programming, software design patterns, and modern development best practices
Experience with source control, automated testing, and CI/CD pipelines
Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and analytical skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams
Description of Role/Responsibilities/Project Description:
Beacon Hill is looking for a Microservices / Service Developer to support one of our clients in building and enhancing scalable, enterprise-grade applications and services. This individual will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining microservices-based solutions using Java and Spring technologies, while ensuring high performance, reliability, and integration across complex systems. The ideal candidate will have experience developing RESTful APIs, working with GraphQL, and designing distributed architectures in cloud-native environments. Candidates should possess strong NoSQL database experience, a solid understanding of software design principles, and a passion for leveraging modern development tools, including AI-assisted coding technologies such as Claude or similar platforms. This role requires a collaborative developer who can effectively communicate with cross-functional teams, troubleshoot complex technical challenges, and contribute throughout the full software development lifecycle.
