Human Resources Generalist
Location: Shakopee, MN (Full-Time Onsite)
Employment Type: Ongoing Contract with Strong Contract-to-Hire Potential
Pay Rate: $30-$35 per hour, depending on experience
Schedule: Monday-Friday, Regular Business Schedule
About the Opportunity
Beacon Hill’s client is seeking an experienced Human Resources Generalist to support day-to-day HR operations and provide assistance across a variety of people-focused initiatives. This individual will play a key role in recruiting, onboarding, employee support, benefits administration, payroll backup, compliance activities, and overall HR administration. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and capable of managing multiple priorities while delivering exceptional service to employees and leadership.
Job Responsibilities
- Support hiring efforts by coordinating recruitment activities, scheduling interviews, and partnering with staffing agencies and external recruiting resources.
- Promote open positions through various sourcing channels, job boards, and recruiting events to attract qualified candidates.
- Lead onboarding processes for new employees, including orientation sessions and completion of required employment documentation.
- Generate and distribute offer letters and other hiring-related correspondence.
- Maintain accurate applicant tracking records and hiring documentation throughout the recruitment lifecycle.
- Review, update, and create job descriptions to align with organizational needs and position requirements.
- Serve as a point of contact for employee questions regarding HR policies, procedures, benefits, and general employment matters.
- Provide backup support for bi-weekly payroll processing utilizing Paylocity or a comparable payroll platform.
- Assist with employee benefits administration, including new hire enrollments, annual open enrollment activities, and employee benefit inquiries.
- Manage workers’ compensation claims by partnering with employees, managers, and insurance carriers throughout the claims process.
- Ensure personnel records, I-9 documentation, and employee files are maintained accurately and in compliance with company policies and regulations.
- Coordinate onboarding activities such as background screenings, reference checks, and other onboarding requirements.
- Conduct exit meetings, support offboarding processes, and prepare termination-related paperwork.
- Provide administrative support to various departments and assist with special projects as needed.
- Contribute to additional HR and operational initiatives as assigned.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Minimum of 5+ years of Human Resources or related professional experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Experience supporting recruitment, interviewing, and hiring processes.
- Working knowledge of HR practices, policies, and employment laws.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
- Experience with payroll platforms such as Paylocity or similar systems.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to effectively operate standard office equipment, including computers, phones, copiers, and filing systems.
- Capable of working independently while also collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to follow established procedures and work instructions accurately.
- Strong English reading, writing, and communication abilities.
- Commitment to workplace safety standards and procedures.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment, adaptability, and professionalism when responding to changing business needs and situations.
