A growing Bay Area contractor is seeking a Certified Payroll & Labor Compliance Specialist to support payroll operations and labor compliance across active construction projects.

This role is ideal for someone who understands the complexities of construction payroll, prevailing wage requirements, certified payroll reporting, and California labor compliance. You’ll work closely with operations, accounting, and project teams to ensure payroll accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting.

Responsibilities

• Process weekly payroll for hourly and field employees.
• Review and audit timecards, labor allocations, overtime, meal period compliance, and payroll adjustments.
• Prepare and maintain certified payroll reports for public works projects.
• Verify prevailing wage rates, employee classifications, fringe benefits, and labor compliance requirements.
• Coordinate certified payroll reporting and compliance documentation with project teams and subcontractors.
• Support labor compliance audits and respond to payroll-related reporting requests.
• Process new hires, terminations, pay changes, garnishments, and other payroll transactions.
• Reconcile payroll reports and investigate discrepancies.
• Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with California wage and hour laws.
• Partner with HR and Accounting to ensure accurate employee and payroll data.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of payroll experience in a construction environment.
• Experience with prevailing wage and certified payroll reporting.
• Knowledge of California wage and hour requirements.
• Experience processing payroll for field and hourly employees.
• Strong understanding of payroll auditing, timekeeping, and labor compliance.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong Excel and payroll systems experience.
