Senior Tax Accountant- King of Prussia, PA- Hybrid
Job Overview
The Senior Tax Accountant is responsible for preparing and reviewing tax returns, provisions, and compliance filings while supporting tax planning and research. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, minimizes tax liabilities, and partners with accounting and finance teams on tax-related matters. Reports to the Tax Manager, Tax Director, or Controller.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review federal, state, and local income and franchise tax returns (corporate, partnership, and/or individual)
- Prepare quarterly and annual income tax provisions in accordance with ASC 740
- Calculate estimated tax payments and prepare supporting workpapers and reconciliations
- Assist with tax planning strategies to optimize the company’s tax position and minimize liabilities
- Research and interpret tax laws, regulations, and rulings; document findings in technical memos
- Support federal and state tax audits, notices, and inquiries from taxing authorities
- Prepare and file indirect tax returns (sales & use, property, excise) as applicable
- Assist with international reporting requirements (e.g., Forms 5471, 5472, 8858) where relevant
- Reconcile tax accounts and maintain deferred tax schedules
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and tax policies (including SOX where applicable)
- Identify and drive process improvements and automation in the tax function
- Mentor and review the work of tax associates/staff as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s in Taxation a plus)
- 3-5+ years of tax experience in public accounting and/or corporate tax
- CPA or CPA candidate strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations and ASC 740
- Experience with tax software (e.g., OneSource, GoSystem RS, CCH Axcess, Corptax) and ERP systems
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs)
- Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple deadlines during peak tax periods
