Collections Specialist
We are seeking a Collections Specialist for a temp-to-hire opportunity. This role focuses primarily on commercial collections and accounts receivable, with additional responsibility for audit support, payment processing, and account accuracy.
Responsibilities
- Manage high-volume outbound collections through calls and emails.
- Review aging reports and follow up on 30/60/90-day past-due accounts.
- Process payments and post invoices and accounting transactions.
- Investigate and resolve outstanding balances and account discrepancies.
- Assist with accounts receivable audits and supporting documentation.
- Maintain accurate account records and support month-end and year-end activities.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of collections, accounts receivable, or related accounting experience preferred.
- Strong commercial/B2B collections experience.
- Experience with payment processing, invoice posting, and aging reports.
- Exposure to AR audits or audit support.
- Strong Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs and PivotTables.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
Preferred Experience
- Payroll audit experience.
- Union, pension, or benefits-related experience.
- Experience with collective bargaining agreements is a plus.
