Job: Accounting Assistant
Location: On-site in NW/North Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Employment Type: Temporary/Contract to Hire, with a strong chance of permanent conversion
Pay Range: $23-25/hour, depending on experience
Position Overview:
We are partnering with a local organization seeking a reliable and team-oriented Accounting Assistant to support daily accounting operations. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a structured, fast-paced environment and takes pride in following established processes, staying organized, and producing accurate work.
The right candidate will be coachable, detail-oriented, and able to take direction well, while maintaining a positive, team-first attitude in a deadline-driven setting.
This is a full-time, on-site position with a standard Monday through Friday schedule from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Key Responsibilities/Job Duties:
- Process accounts payable (vendor invoices, payment entries, and checks) accurately and efficiently
- Follow established accounting procedures and workflows to ensure consistency and accuracy
- Perform bank and account reconciliations regularly
- Assist with basic journal entries and support month-end close activities
- Communicate with vendors in a professional and timely manner
- Maintain accurate records and documentation for all transactions
- Review reports (aging, discrepancies, etc.) and follow up as needed
- Support team members and other departments to ensure smooth daily operations
Requirements/Qualifications:
- 2+ years of accounting, bookkeeping, and accounts payable-related work experience
- Proficient with data entry, Microsoft Office Suite, Word, and Excel. Previous working experience with Sage/Peachtree and QuickBooks preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field is a plus, but not required.
- Employment history should demonstrate the ability to make long-term contributions to an employer, including a record of sustained tenure and career progression.
- Ability to work in a structured environment and follow established processes consistently
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, deadline-driven setting with shifting priorities
