Junior Paralegal / Legal Assistant

A boutique Skokie‑based law firm is seeking a Junior Paralegal / Legal Assistant to join its team. This is a full‑time, in‑office role supporting attorneys and a senior paralegal in a collaborative, fast‑paced environment focused on real estate, corporate, and commercial matters. The position is based in Skokie, Illinois.

This role operates on a 40‑hour work week, Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with a 1‑hour unpaid lunch. The position is fully onsite, with no remote flexibility, and does not require overtime. The salary range for this position is $45K-$60K, depending on experience. This is an excellent opportunity for an entry‑level to junior candidate seeking hands‑on experience and long‑term growth within a transactional legal environment.

The ideal candidate is early in their career and looking to grow, with strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn. This role is well suited for someone reliable, responsive, and comfortable working under the direction of a senior paralegal while supporting both administrative and substantive legal tasks.

Skills required and Job Duties include the following:

Job Duties:

  • Assist with the preparation and organization of transactional documents
  • Draft correspondence and basic legal documents for attorney review
  • Manage files, closing documents, and checklists
  • Coordinate with clients, lenders, and third parties
  • Track deadlines and ensure timely completion of tasks
  • Maintain and organize physical and electronic files
  • Scan, upload, and assemble documents and closing binders
  • Assist with general office operations, including ordering supplies
  • Support attorneys and a senior paralegal across administrative and legal tasks

Qualifications:

  • Paralegal certificate required (highly preferred over bachelor’s degree)
  • Bachelor’s degree a plus but not required
  • Strong organizational, time‑management, and communication skills
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Reliable, responsive, and able to consistently work onsite
  • Prior legal experience is a plus but not required
  • Must not be currently enrolled in law school
