Accounting Advisory Senior Associate / Manager

Position Overview

A growing professional services firm is seeking an experienced accounting professional to join its advisory practice. The position may be structured at the Senior Associate or Manager level, depending on the candidate’s experience.

This is an opportunity to move beyond traditional compliance work and take greater ownership of client relationships, financial reporting, accounting operations, and business-focused advisory projects. You’ll work directly with privately held organizations and their leadership teams, helping them solve accounting challenges, improve processes, and strengthen their financial reporting.

The role is ideal for someone who enjoys client interaction, solving complex accounting challenges, and partnering with businesses on a wide range of financial and operational needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead or support accounting advisory engagements for privately held organizations.
  • Prepare and review financial statements, compilations, management reports, and other client deliverables.
  • Work directly with business owners and leadership teams to understand their accounting and financial reporting needs.
  • Advise clients on month-end close, financial statement preparation, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, bookkeeping oversight, and process improvements.
  • Assist with accounting cleanup projects, reporting challenges, and other financial or operational initiatives.
  • Manage multiple client engagements, priorities, budgets, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency.
  • Build strong client relationships and serve as a reliable point of contact.
  • Review work prepared by team members and provide technical guidance based on experience level.
  • Mentor and develop junior accounting professionals through training, feedback, and day-to-day support.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure high-quality engagement delivery and a positive client experience.
  • Contribute to the continued development and growth of the accounting advisory practice.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Approximately 4+ years of progressive accounting experience. Candidates will be considered at the Senior Associate or Manager level based on their background.
  • Experience in public accounting, client accounting services, accounting advisory, outsourced accounting, or a similar professional services environment.
  • Professionals from small and mid-sized public accounting firms are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Hands-on experience preparing or reviewing financial statements and supporting compilations, reviews, month-end close, management reporting, or related client accounting engagements.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting principles.
  • Ability to work directly with business owners and leadership teams and communicate accounting and financial information clearly.
  • Experience balancing multiple client engagements, deadlines, and competing priorities.
  • For Manager-level candidates, experience reviewing work, managing engagements, and mentoring or supervising team members is preferred.
  • For Senior Associate-level candidates, demonstrated readiness to assume greater ownership of engagements and client relationships is important.
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, accounting process improvement, financial cleanup projects, or special advisory initiatives is a plus.
  • CPA license or progress toward certification is preferred but not required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and commonly used accounting software. Experience with QuickBooks or other cloud-based accounting platforms is helpful.
  • Self-motivated, organized, responsive, and comfortable working in a client-facing environment where initiative and problem-solving are valued.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

  • Flexibility to join at the Senior Associate or Manager level
  • Direct interaction with business owners and leadership teams
  • Broader exposure than a traditional audit, tax, or general accounting position
  • Variety across clients, industries, and accounting advisory projects
  • Meaningful ownership of client relationships and engagement delivery
  • Opportunity to mentor others and contribute to practice growth
  • Collaborative environment where initiative and new ideas are valued
