The Associate Director, Digital Communications serves as a critical member of the global communications function and will be responsible for developing, managing, and advancing the organization’s global digital communications strategy across all digital channels. This includes corporate websites, social media, email communications, executive digital platforms, content hubs, search, paid media, emerging technologies, and employee advocacy programs.

This position is ideal for a creative, innovative communications professional with a passion for building reputation and brand, managing integrated digital ecosystems, and delivering measurable impact through data-driven, multi-channel communication strategies.

This is a 6-month contract role with potential to extend and would be hybrid.

Key Responsibilities

This position is responsible for:

  • Developing and executing an integrated digital communications strategy that aligns with organizational goals and business priorities.
  • Managing and optimizing the organization’s digital channel ecosystem, including websites, social media platforms, email communications, content hubs, executive channels, search, and paid media.
  • Aligning organic, paid, and owned digital strategies to maximize reach, engagement, and business impact.
  • Creating, curating, and governing digital content across channels to ensure consistency in messaging, brand standards, and audience experience.
  • Reporting digital performance metrics regularly and providing strategic insights for major campaigns, corporate milestones, and key initiatives.
  • Analyzing channel performance, audience behavior, and engagement trends to continuously improve content, user experience, and channel effectiveness.
  • Leading digital amplification strategies, including paid media planning, execution, budgeting, and optimization.
  • Managing governance, policies, standards, and training related to digital communications and employee advocacy programs.
  • Maintaining oversight of corporate digital properties and collaborating with business partners to ensure content accuracy, compliance, and accessibility.
  • Managing relationships with external agencies, technology partners, platform providers, and vendors to drive innovation and best practices.
  • Collaborating with Technology, Marketing, Analytics, Medical/Scientific Affairs, Human Resources, and other functions to advance digital initiatives and reporting capabilities.
  • Monitoring and responding to evolving digital trends, audience behaviors, platform changes, AI-enabled communication opportunities, and emerging technologies.
  • Supporting digital communications during high-visibility corporate events, issues management situations, and reputation-related initiatives.
  • Help oversee digital monitoring and listening activities to identify risks, opportunities, and stakeholder sentiment across channels.
  • Providing strategic support for internal communications platforms, employee engagement initiatives, and enterprise-wide digital campaigns.

Required Qualifications

Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in corporate communications, digital communications, digital marketing, content strategy, or related disciplines.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing integrated digital communication strategies across multiple channels and audiences.
  • Experience managing large-scale digital campaigns and content initiatives in pharmaceutical or biotech companies.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Exceptional writing, editing, storytelling, and content strategy capabilities.
  • Deep understanding of digital communication channels, including websites, email marketing, social media, search, paid media, content management systems, and emerging digital platforms.
  • Experience creating and managing digital content ecosystems that serve multiple stakeholder groups.
  • Strong understanding of digital analytics, measurement frameworks, dashboards, and performance reporting.
  • Experience with digital publishing, marketing automation, analytics, content management, and audience engagement tools.
  • Strong blend of strategic thinking, creative storytelling, campaign development, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Knowledge of paid digital media, budget management, audience targeting, and performance optimization.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage communications during high-profile or fast-moving business situations.
  • Proven experience managing agencies, vendors, and budgets.
  • Track record of leading reputation-enhancing digital initiatives with an enterprise-wide perspective.
  • Strong project management, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to influence and partner effectively with senior leaders and cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated agility and adaptability in a dynamic, global environment while managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Curiosity and enthusiasm for emerging technologies, digital innovation, AI-powered communications, and evolving audience behaviors.
