Kate Harris, a Senior Division Director of Beacon Hill’s HR division, said tech giants’ layoffs were a direct result of their fast growth in recent years. "I feel like they were their own beast when they were growing. They're kind of their own beast now that they're having massive layoffs," said Harris. “We aren't really seeing the impact of that day-to-day at all that you might expect if you're just reading the headlines."
Similarly, layoffs in the drug industry have been tied more closely to regulatory factors than to the economy, said Tim Bolduc, Senior Division Director in Beacon Hill's financial services group.
