BH Legal™ Case Study
Placing a Senior-level General Counsel with Intellectual Property Experience for Direct Hire
Challenge
A large, privately owned Twin Cities manufacturing company wanted to hire a new general counsel (GC) to backfill their departing and tenured GC. The company is in a niche manufacturing sector, and they believed they were not aggressive enough to maximize the value of their intellectual property (IP) portfolio.
This meant they needed a senior-level attorney with a strong IP background who could also handle all general corporate—a profile in short supply and proving difficult to source. The outgoing GC had a potential replacement in mind, but the company wanted to source additional attorneys before extending an offer.
Solution
Beacon Hill Legal was selected to meet with the departing general counsel and executive team to gain an in-depth understanding of the hard, soft, and interpersonal skills that would be most successful in their organization. We presented three qualified candidates, whom our client then took the time to vet carefully alongside the initially identified internal candidate.
Achievements
Our client was delighted to find that one of our candidates was a perfect fit for the role, with a background that aligned completely with their requirements. This successful match brought a sense of reassurance and satisfaction to our client.
